2nd and Fairmount, since 2014

Cajun bar fare and whiskey in a Northern Liberties standby.

For nearly 30 years, 705 N 2nd St was Liberties, a taproom near Fairmount Avenue. In February 2014 it became Bourbon & Branch, named for the drink: in the South, branch means water. The bar itself is an altar, salvaged from a decommissioned church at 10th and Green, and the second floor became a music room for more than 100 people. In October 2026 chef Brooke Alan joined the kitchen after ten years in Philadelphia restaurants, bringing her version of Cajun bar fare: family recipes, modern technique and local ingredients.
