Chef Alejandro · Founder and chef, Cavany Foods

From Maracaibo to Grand Street
A farmers-market meal plan that grew into a corner market.
Chef Alejandro grew up in Maracaibo, Venezuela, where cooking goes back three generations in his family, and trained in Buenos Aires and at Le Cordon Bleu in France. He started Cavany in 2017 as a meal-prep service, cooking in Bergen-Lafayette and selling at the Grove Street Farmers Market. In 2020 he signed for the ground floor of 235 Grand, by the Grove Street PATH. The market opened in June 2022, and the tower’s residents order it as room service.
