Circles Thai was founded in 2008 as Plan-Eat-Thai, a Thai takeout and delivery kitchen at 15th and Tasker, “devoted to exposing Philadelphia to the wide variety of authentic Thai dishes.” It became Circles in 2009. Philadelphia magazine named it Best New Thai in 2011, then the city’s best Thai restaurant in 2012 and 2013: “Nothing else even comes close.” Today Circles’ kitchen and dining room share one building at 812 N 2nd St, between Brown and Poplar.

Seven curries, from massaman and panang to pumpkin and pineapple, sit beside khao soi, a roast duck curry with the house Chiang Mai herb blend, and a fiery southern-style kua kling the kitchen won’t tone down. Then come the Philly favorites: cheesesteak spring rolls and General Thai chicken. The Infatuation’s pick is the pineapple curry with shrimp.
