16th and Spring Garden
Since 1980: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
John’s Place sits at 1529 Spring Garden Street, at 16th, just northeast of the Community College of Philadelphia. Its sign reads “Since 1980,” then three words: breakfast, lunch, dinner. The doors open at 7 every morning but Sunday, breakfast specials run until 11 and lunch specials until 3 on weekdays, and the dining room is BYOB.

The menu
Fifteen gourmet pizzas and sixteen omelettes, on one menu.
John’s Original pies come as cheese, white or tomato, round or as a Sicilian square. Fifteen gourmet pizzas follow, from buffalo chicken to Nicole’s White with broccoli, feta, tomatoes and garlic. Mornings bring omelettes, hot cakes, scrapple and the Hungry Man Special; the rest of the day brings steaks, strombolis, hoagies, wraps, platters and pasta, with a special for every day it opens.
