Sushi on Jewelers’ Row, a few blocks from the Liberty Bell.

Koto Sushi opened at 719 Sansom Street in 2017, on Jewelers’ Row, a few blocks from Washington Square, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. The room is calm, with red booths, and the menu runs from the sushi bar to the hibachi grill. In 2023 Philadelphia Magazine’s sushi guide said its writer had never seen a bigger menu, with “some of the best sushi in the neighborhood.” And for two weeks in February 2026, every dollar of JeffHOPE Roll sales went to JeffHOPE, the free clinics Jefferson medical students run in Philadelphia’s shelters.

The menu

Twenty-eight signature rolls, from the Rock n Roll to the Naruto Maki.

Sushi and sashimi by the piece run from salmon and yellowtail to uni and fatty tuna. The signature rolls include the Spicy Girl: spicy tuna, yellowtail and salmon with crunch inside, under four colors of tobiko. Hawaiian-style poké is built your way, from the base to the crunch on top, and the kitchen adds hibachi dinners, teriyaki, tempura, udon, bento boxes and party trays. The hibachi travels too: Koto’s chefs bring the grill to backyard parties across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
