Washington Ave at Española Way

More than a place to eat: a celebration of Cuban tradition and culture.

La Mulata sits on the corner of Washington Avenue and Española Way, in the heart of South Beach. Its room recalls 1950s Havana, and its kitchen cooks real Cuban food with fresh ingredients, true to the classic flavors with a modern twist. Miami & Beaches, Greater Miami’s official visitor guide, calls the family-run restaurant a local favorite and a place to celebrate, with live music every weekend.

The menu

From the cherished classics to bold, creative twists.

Ropa vieja comes grandma-style, the shredded beef cooked with onions, peppers and red wine, beside lechón asado, churrasco encebollado and the classic Cubano. Paella Habanera fills the pan with saffron rice, shrimp, mussels, clams, octopus and squid. The twists start with the appetizers: ropa vieja in empanadas and tacos, beef croquettes with truffle oil, and shrimp ceviche with grilled pineapple.
