Named for García Márquez’s Macondo
From the coffee farms of Colombia to a roaster in Doral.
Fabio Caro, born outside Bogotá, named Macondo for the town in Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, and opened the first café in Doral in 2015. Green beans from small Colombian farms arrive in burlap sacks printed with Macondo’s butterfly, and are roasted in Doral three times a week for every Macondo café: Downtown, Doral, Kendall, Little Havana, Pinecrest and Wesley Chapel. The family-owned company turned ten in February 2025, when the city of Doral honored it with an award.
“It’s an experience to have a cup of coffee with friends and family.”Fabio Caro, Macondo’s founder, to the Miami Herald, 2025

The menu
Breakfast served all day, with Colombia on the side.
Macondo pairs its coffee with Latin American favorites and classic American breakfast and lunch: corn arepas, pan de bonos and tequeños, a campesina casserole with plantains, chorizo and Colombian hogao, and Fabio’s Favorite, fried eggs on toasted baguette with avocado, feta and pesto. Lunch brings Gabo’s Wrap, the Mi Tierra bowl and Parcero’s Burger, with vegan and gluten-free options throughout.
