“If there’s not something going on, it’s not a good day in here.”
Mike Silvano · Co-owner, Mike & Matt’s Italian Market

The corner of Camac and Mifflin
Three families have kept this corner store open since 1919.
Filippo Giambri came from Caccamo, Sicily, in 1905, opened the store at Camac and Mifflin in 1919 and raised three children upstairs. His son Nick ran it after him, then sold it to Nino and Flavia Carabello. Brothers Mike and Matt Silvano took over in March 2006, and in March 2026 they marked 20 years behind the counter.
“We are truly blessed to be able to serve our community.”Mike & Matt’s, on 20 years in business, March 2026

The counter
Hoagies over the counter. Cutlets on Wednesdays.
Cold cuts sliced thin, Italian imports and hoagies made to order. Philadelphia Magazine lists the hoagies among the best in South Philly. One customer found the store sold out of bread, bought a roll at another bakery and brought it back so Mike & Matt’s could make his sandwich.
