“Instagram’s first pizza shop”
From pop-ups booked on Instagram to a corner off East Passyunk.
Dan Gutter got his first pizza job at 14, at Cocco’s Pizza in Delaware County. After a criminal justice degree from Temple, he worked at Pizza Brain, trained briefly with Joe Beddia, and in 2017 began baking Detroit-style pies at the W/N W/N coffee bar on Spring Garden Street, with bookings through his Instagram, @pizza_gutt. Circles + Squares followed in Kensington in 2019. On March 11, 2020, he opened Pizza Plus for takeout in the old Key Pizza at 12th and Mifflin. On the first day, its oven turned out 200 pizzas in six hours.

The menu
“There’s cheese that goes right up to the end of the crust.”
That is how Gutter described his pan pies to The Temple News in 2017. Pizza Plus took the same fried-cheese edges and added 16-inch New York-style pies, cheesesteaks on seeded rolls with Cooper Sharp, smash burgers, wings and tenders, with a vegan version of nearly everything.
