Riva Reno: the shores of the Reno

From the banks of Bologna’s river to Mary Brickell Village.

RivaReno is named for the shores of the Reno, the river that runs by Bologna, where partner Leonardo Ragazzi learned the art of gelato. Four friends, a car industry manager, a BBC reporter, a lawyer and a gelato maker, founded it in 2004, and in 2005 opened the first store on Via Col di Lana in Milan’s Navigli district, where most of its flavors are still developed. Two years later Golosaria named it the best gelato shop in Italy. RivaReno came to the US in February 2022 with its shop in Brickell’s Mary Brickell Village, and has since opened a second Miami shop, on Giralda Avenue in Coral Gables.

The menu

More than 100 flavors, made fresh every day.

Every RivaReno shop makes its gelato in its own lab, attached to the shop, each morning and again through the day, with no hydrogenated oils or artificial colorings, and serves it at 16°F, warm enough to taste everything in it. Cremino RivaReno, the most popular flavor, layers white chocolate, hazelnut and cream with the house Gianduia sauce. The sorbets carry up to 65% real fruit, and every one is vegan.
