Owner story · Downtown Miami
“…warmth, grace, and a lot of bossa – that typical Brazilian flair. For us, that is sacred.”
Taciana Kalili · Founder, Sagrado Café

Sagrado means sacred
From 13 brigadeiro shops in São Paulo to a café on Biscayne.
Taciana Kalili, from Minas Gerais, turned a weekend hobby into Brigaderia, the São Paulo chain that made the brigadeiro a gift. Cacau Show came into the business in 2013, and she moved her family abroad. In Miami she started again from zero: with pastry chef Vanessa Hida, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, she spent two years planning Sagrado, across the boulevard from the Frost Museum.
“Two months later, I had five employees working in my home kitchen.”Taciana Kalili on starting Brigaderia, to Exame, 2012 (translated from Portuguese)

The menu
Brazil’s interior, on Biscayne Boulevard.
Taciana built the menu on the cooking of Minas Gerais, where meals come from iron pans on wood stoves and people, she says, “like food to taste like food.” Pão de queijo and brigadeiros come out of the open pastry kitchen to a bossa nova soundtrack, and breakfast is served all day.
