684 Bergen Ave · McGinley Square

From a ghost kitchen to McGinley Square’s neighborhood bar.

Morgan Kulessa and Bryan Lewis became fast friends on The Green at Seton Hall University, and both went into hospitality. In September 2023 they started cooking wings as a ghost kitchen inside Taco Bar at 684 Bergen Ave. The wings were an instant hit, and the two took over the whole space as Wing Bar. Morgan lives in McGinley Square and has served on its board of trustees. Bryan grew up in Maryland, first cooked at three, and brought his home state’s flavors to the menu.

“We want to promote community in our space. Our clientele is broad—everyone is welcome.”Morgan Kulessa, to New Jersey Digest, 2024

The menu

Wings fried twice, sauces made in house.

The menu stays short so the quality stays high. Wings are fried twice, first at 350 degrees and then at 400, for what the owners call a “rock solid crispy wing.” The sauces are made in house with five ingredients or fewer, from classic buffalo and lemon pepper to two Maryland staples, Honey Old Bay and Yard Bird. Tenders are marinated for 24 hours and breaded to order, and the smashburger comes on brioche from The Bread Gal, a women-owned bakery in Paterson.
